Microfinance Internships
The microfinance sector in Argentina became even more important as a poverty reduction strategy following the financial crisis a decade ago. Today microfinance internship opportunities exist in the many microfinance and microcredit institutions and nonprofits involved in giving access to credit to those in the low income sector, whether it’s working capital for a new business or indeed funds for house-building or home improvement, or bringing basic facilities to disadvantaged neighborhoods, or offering workshop and educational scholarships to underprivledged individuals. Interns with an interest in development finance and/or sustainability will get exposure to this increasingly high profile sector and may be involved in activities such as implementing financial literacy programs for microcredit beneficiaries, assessing the portfolio-at-risk of local microfinance institutions or working in communications, fund development or event management for microfinance organizations.
