Meet Intern and 2013 Scholarship Winner Jack McCafferty!

After spending more than 24 hours straight in airports arriving in Cape Town was relieving. Just the drive from the airport to the building I would be calling home for the next 11 weeks was amazing and the scenery like nothing I have seen back in the states. On the first day we started the morning with the program orientation and had the rest of the day to relax and get to know other people in the program.

The first day/week of work at the advertising agency started the following day and the experience was amazing. My agency spent no time waiting and threw me in from the start. I was able to sit in on client meetings and had a hand in running through and filling out documents that were the heart and soul of each project that came we were assigned.

However nothing I have experienced so far will top my first weekend. Having the opportunity to go out into the city and suburbs of Cape Town and experience a completely different culture than I am accustomed to back home was amazing on its own, but the highlight of my weekend was taking the hour and a half hike up to the top of Devil’s Peak. A riveting experience just man and nature to the top to experience the most amazing view I have ever seen that high up.

For just being here one week I have experienced so much and haven’t taken one bit of it for granted. I am truly blessed to be able to do this, thanks to all that have helped me get here. Until next time connectors!
