Your Scholarship Questions Answered!

We’re very proud to announce the first ever Connect-123 International Scholarship Competition!
I know what you’re thinking…“Huh? A scholarship? A free trip abroad? How does that work?” Well, here are answers to some burning questions you may have…
WHO can enter the competition?
Anyone and everyone who is over 18 can enter. If you’ve already sent in an application to one of our internship or volunteer programs, feel free to enter the competition as well (if you win, we’ll refund what you’ve already paid!) Alumni are encouraged to enter too!
I should also mention that we’re going to add more scholarships the more entries we receive. Here’s how that breaks down:
• Up to 99 entries = 1 scholarship (first prize, $4,000 value)
• Up to 199 entries = 2 scholarships (we’ll add a second prize, $2,500 value)
• Over 200 entries = 3 scholarships (we’ll add a third prize, $1,500 value)
What’s the takeaway here? SPREAD THE WORD!! Tell your friends, brothers, sisters, cousins, acquaintences, the guy in sitting next to you in class, etc.
WHAT type of internship or volunteer position can I have?
That one is entirely up to you! As with all of our program participants, we want to know what you are interested in, and we’ll arrange a customized internship or volunteer program based on your background, skills and interests. We’ve got opportunities available in tons of different areas – from business to economic development to healthcare to human rights – and everything in between! Learn more about our placement process.
WHERE can I travel to if I win the scholarship contest?
The lucky individuals get to choose between our five amazing international destinations – Cape Town, South Africa; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Shanghai, China; Barcelona, Spain; and Dublin, Ireland!
WHEN is my entry due?
You’ve got from now until March 31st to get us your entry, so start brainstorming your response to the following question asap:
Describe, using words, photos or a video, how the opportunity to work, learn and explore on a Connect-123 international program would make a difference in your life and/or in the lives of others.
Winners will be announced on April 15, 2012 and have up to one year from that date to use the scholarship.
WHY are you giving away trips for free?
How many times have you dreamed of going abroad, but just haven’t quite had the funds to make it work? We’re excited to be able to remove that barrier for a few individuals looking to have a life-changing international experience and create change both in themselves and in the world around them!
HOW can I apply?
Well, I’m glad you asked! You can head right over to our registration page. Once you register, we’ll send you an email with the official application form. Just fill it out, and attach your entry (be it an essay, photo or video) and email it back to us at: scholarships@connect-123.com Volia!

Program Director, Argentina:Katie, a US native, had traveled to Buenos Aires on several extended trips before the citys lure became too strong and she decided to call it home. Long fascinated by the global scene, Katie earned a degree in International Studies from Miami University and spent time studying and living in Madrid, Spain. She then worked in marketing for an international board game company followed by a brief foray as an online community editor for several websites before joining the Connect-123 team. Still a tourist at heart herself, Katie loves watching newcomers discover the charm of Buenos Aires and takes great pleasure in helping them make the most out of their work and volunteer opportunities while experiencing everything this dynamic city has to offer.
