Volunteer in Barcelona

Become an international volunteer in Barcelona and give back to the community while you explore one of Europe’s most artistic and picturesque cities. Connect-123 volunteer programs in Barcelona are designed with you in mind and to provide the most benefit to your host organization. Whether your interests lie in community service, environmental causes, social work, the medical field, or any one of our many volunteer opportunities, Connect-123 will find the volunteer position for you!

Barcelona is major cultural center of Europe and is on the cutting edge of many different initiatives that strive to improve the lives of its inhabitants as well as the rest of the world. And as an international volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute your unique skills to one of many Connect-123 volunteer programs – we have an extensive network of local organizations to choose from! Our dedicated staff will take into account your skills and interests and match you to the project in Barcelona that is best suited for you, whether that be participating in Barcelona’s commitment to human rights, working with youth, protecting the welfare of animals, or any of the other opportunities there are to serve the community.

As a volunteer on our Barcelona program, you have several housing options to choose from. You may want to live with other Connect-123 program participants, so that you can enjoy exploring your new surroundings together. For more of a local experience, you might choose to live with a Spanish young professional in a city apartment. To get a real sense of life in a Barcelona household, you might want to choose to stay with a family in their home. Or you might even want to secure your own accommodations – that is fine as well. Our Barcelona volunteer program is quite flexible and you can seek as much or as little help from the Connect-123 team as you want!

The Connect-123 Barcelona Volunteer Program’s flat fee of €2,250 includes the following:

  • Pre-trip Barcelona information pack
  • Airport pick-up service
  • Help arranging accommodation
  • Access to Connect-123 weekly events
  • Comprehensive Barcelona orientation upon arrival
  • 24/7 Emergency support
  • Advice, support, and guidance before, during, and after your stay
  • Lifetime Connect-123 Alumni group membership, connecting you with program graduates around the world for advice and opportunities

A €300 deposit, which is due with your application, can be paid via credit card or debit card here. The balance of €1,950 is due when you confirm your participation. Provided that you have not approved a placement, your deposit is fully refundable up until two weeks after we send the first volunteer offer to you.

The first step in your Barcelona volunteer application is simply completing the form on the Inquire Now page. Soon after, we’ll get back to you to arrange a phone call, and we’ll ask you to send your resume/CV beforehand. The idea of this conversation is for us to answer any questions you may have about the process, the city itself, or the logistics of your volunteer trip. We’ll also try to understand your motivations and interests to try to get to know you better.

After the call, we’ll ask you to send us a completed application form along with two letters of recommendation, and to pay the €300 program fee deposit, which provided you have not approved a placement, is 100% refundable up until two weeks after we send the first volunteer program offer to you.

Once these steps have been completed, you are officially on our Barcelona volunteer program and we can then start to identify the best volunteer opportunity for you!

Let's get started!
