Housing in Cape Town
Cape Town program participants can opt to live in Connect-123 housing. Most interns and volunteers on our housing program live in a large, centrally-located residential apartment building called Perspectives. The building has 24-hour security, small roof-top gym and pool and possible indoor parking. The apartments, which all have two bedrooms and two bathrooms, are clean and comfortable, have a fully equipped kitchen, TV, DVD and pay-as-you-go wireless internet access (roughly $1 to $2/ hour). Bed linen and towels are supplied and twice-per-month cleaning service is included. At any one time, 30 to 60 Connect-123 Cape Town program participants share in apartments in Perspectives and spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don’t wish to stay in Perspectives our team can advise you on the best accommodation options to suit your requirements. Other options for Cape Town interns can include house or apartment share with local professionals or homestay with a Cape Town family.
Our School of Record partner is University of California Irvine, and in parallel with your internship or volunteer position you are able to enroll in an online course at UCI that will grant you 3 graded transfer credits. The fee for these credits is only $600. Please check with your university if they accept transfer credits or reach out to us for more details. In addition, many students on our programs earn academic credit through their universities. Check with your university to find out if they grant credit for independent study, experiential learning, community service or internships and we’ll then liaise with your university to ensure that your project meets their requirements.
