Youth Development/Sports Intern | Cape TownIn my two months in Cape Town, I have first and foremost fallen madly in love with the city and the atmosphere. My internship is so much more than I could ever ask for. Be it office work or coaching, I always learned something. I attribute a lot of my happiness to the amazing group of people that I have been fortunate enough to work with. Not once did I ever feel like an outsider. I always felt very much at home. My internship has afforded me the opportunity to see how a business/foundation is run. Not only that but I also got to see and experience the results of their labor through visit to games, coaching opportunities, and more. Everyone works so hard, no matter the nature of the work. It’s been inspiring to be in an environment where people are working so hard to make a difference. This internship experience has been like a dream to me and I don’t think I will ever be able to express in words how truly grateful I am. Connect-123 made all of this possible. I have made good friends through the program who I will be keeping in touch with for a long time. Be it planned outings on the weekends or impromptu trips here and there, it was always an adventure and a good time. I will definitely be back to Cape Town soon!

Connect-123 is a phenomenal way to experience another country. It is an immersive opportunity where you not only learn about the place you are in by hearing about it, but also by seeing it and experiencing it while working in an internship. My internship showed me so much about the South African political landscape and connected me with people who understand the issues, experience and work against these problems daily,...

I am forever grateful to Connect-123 for finding me my absolute dream internship here in Cape Town, and for giving me the opportunity to work at such a special, impactful organization. I worked at a local youth development nonprofit, doing monitoring and evaluation as well as research for the organization. I was given an immense amount of responsibility right from the get-go of my internship, which is something that defined...

My experience in Cape Town was, bar none, the greatest and most influential experience of my life. I spent just two short months, and made lifelong connections with people from all over the world. That is what’s so unique about Connect - 123; you meet extraordinary people, from all over the globe, and we all learn from one another and grow from our experiences. I came to Cape town after...

Working in South Africa through Connect-123 was a lot like studying abroad in the soul of a country that has been forgotten by the rest of the world. The tempo of society slowed down a little bit but the catchiness of the beat remained the same. The ease of traveling through the country and meeting people is similar to how easy it is visiting different stores in a shopping mall....

I wish I found a way to stay in Cape Town because I truly enjoyed the work that I was doing and the opportunities that Connect-123 provided me. The organisation where I volunteered is on its way to accomplishing great things and I feel fortunate to have been a part of that growth!
