Having the opportunity to work with so many different children, in all sorts of settings, speaking many of the different languages native to South Africa was incredible.

All of the skills and experience gained throughout my internship this past summer were too numerous to count. The relationships gained and the experience as a whole will be something I never forget, and I am very thankful I was able to take part in such an amazing opportunity.

My goal in travelling to a country abroad was to learn about the culture, learn the language, and learn more about myself. Although I knew it would be challenging, living on my own in a new country provided many new learning experiences.

I spent the fall semester of my senior year interning in Dublin. Interning through Connect-123 is an excellent way to gain knowledge, learn about other cultures, travel, and access skills to be used towards future jobs.

During my time in Cape Town I was based in a fantastic government hospital and got to work with some incredible doctors and nurses. I observed open heart surgeries, organ donation surgeries and transplants.

I had the opportunity to travel to Buenos Aires for my summer in 2016. I had experiences I would have never gotten as a tourist. It was amazing being able to really be a part of the Argentinian community, which is full of incredibly helpful and kind people.

I interned for 3 months as a teacher’s assistant at a preschool in Buenos Aires. It was a super great experience. I would certainly recommend a Connect-123 internship to anyone looking for an educational and fun experience that can be as structured or as free as you wish.

Connect-123 provides a solid support system while giving you enough space to explore and learn how to navigate a foreign country on your own. The skills and experiences I have taken away from Cape Town will stay with me for the rest of my life.

While I was in Cape Town, I learned more about myself, became friends with people from all over the world, and immersed myself in a country with a complex history — an experience I believe everyone should have before jumping into a full-time job.

For me, this was not just an internship program, it was a life experience. I had to grow on so many levels and i can already tell that now, I’m a changed person. The architecture internship was better than I expected, I was working with a team of passionate people.
