I didn’t think it possible, but my experience in Dublin far surpassed my expectations. I had never been so far from home before, and going to a foreign country where I knew absolutely no one, I was definitely nervous. However, I ended up having an unsurpassable summer from beginning to end. Had I done this through any program other than Connect-123, I don’t think I would have had such a wonderful experience. I worked as an intern in a script and research department with a film company.

While I had initially been looking for something in the publishing industry, I am incredibly grateful for the experience my internship has given me. Before getting in touch with my host organization, I had never had any inclination in finding a career in the film industry; now, since returning home, I am actively attempting to pursue one. I learned an incredible amount from my internship, which delved further than basic research and script review into the inner workings of a successful film company. My experience also would not have been so amazing had I not been able to find such a great group of friends on day one. Staying on UCD’s campus had a long list of benefits, but being able to meet and live with other Connect-123 participants was at the top.

I was able to form strong friendships straight away, which definitely made the summer. Having never left the states before, being able to travel to three different countries, and across all of Ireland, in just three months has definitely opened my eyes, and allowed me to learn more about the world, especially Irish culture, than I could have hoped. I am so beyond grateful to Connect-123 for setting me up in an amazing city and with a fascinating internship position.

Dublin was simply unforgettable. Those 2 months quickly became a life that I could not bear leave, and Ireland quickly became home. With an incredible internship in my field, true friendships, and a lively culture, Connect-123 provided a once in a lifetime opportunity. Interning as a publications assistant, I was given the privilege to singlehandedly prepare a one-time sports anthology. This project included working closely with the publications manager, the editor, the designer, and the organization’s director. It involved compiling poetry, layout, proof reading, and negotiating copyrights from Irish and UK publishers.

The internship included everything from working on this major publication to simple office work and even to attending exclusive poetic, artistic, and cultural events through the city. The Connect-123 team worked hard to find an internship within my field that I was happy with, and I am so appreciative of all their efforts, communication, and reassurance. Along with the internship, I was housed with an incredible group of other interns, which led to memorable trips and lasting friendships. With Ireland’s landscape, accessibility, and location we were able to take several weekend trips (in and outside the country) that were easy and affordable! In such a welcoming environment, both socially and professionally, Dublin was a comfortable city with endless sites and places to discover!

This experience is truly indescribable. I have grown immensely as an individual, a professional, and a traveler. I cannot imagine my life without the people I met in Ireland and the memories I have made. It was, by far, the best time of my life. Now it’s time for you to go have yours! You won’t regret it. Cheers!

My Internship in Ireland this summer was a life-changing experience. Not only did i gain invaluable experience in my field of study, but I met friends from around the world that will last a lifetime and had the opportunity to travel and see so much of the beautiful country while I was there. As I study Geological Engineering, Connect-123 was able to find me an ideal internship position for me: A Geophysical Field Assistant. This internship was unique from many of the internships other students were doing, as the majority of it was spent doing fieldwork in the North-West of Ireland.

However, I was able to spend about 2 weeks in Dublin preparing for this fieldwork, which gave me the opportunity to explore the city, meet other Connect-123 interns, and be immersed in the incredible Irish culture. After this, I headed to the small village of Garrison in Northern Ireland where the rest of my internship would be based out of. Over the time spent here, I became very close with my project instructors and fellow interns - all from different countries or regions. The fieldwork used Geophysics to determine whether the characterization of the earth here would be suitable for Carbon Sequestration in the future. The fieldwork was physically and emotionally demanding, and it rained every day. But I loved every minute of it. After the fieldwork I was taught the procedure of data processing.

Overall, Ireland was undoubtedly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. It was my first independent adventure abroad (which can be intimidating), but Connect-123 always made me feel comfortable and safe throughout my time abroad. I highly recommend any students looking for experience, adventure, and travel to do an internship abroad in Ireland - I promise you won't be disappointed.

My internship in Dublin has been absolutely amazing, so far. Connect-123 helped me to put into words the kind of job I was looking for and was very helpful with so many information and useful advice to settle in and start working.

Dublin is a vibrant city with life music everywhere. Besides, you can do so many things you never get bored. The surrounding landscape is also breathtaking. This internship has also provided me with the opportunity to meet so many people, locals and also people from around the world.

My internship placement has helped me in so many ways. It has given me a valuable work experience in the field I was looking for. I’ve learnt how a NGO works in developing countries and the challenges they face. It has also given me a broader vision of the world and particularly an outlook of the employment situation in a different country. Overall, the whole internship experience has been a memorable one and now I’m sure I’m going to come back to Dublin in the future!

My experience in Dublin has been incredible. Working in a co-working space has given me the opportunity to know more about local companies and meet people with different areas of expertise. Everyday I learned something new and applied it to the projects at hand. My boss has taught me so much about marketing and the media industry. The more I learned, the more I realize what I truly want to do with my career. What makes Dublin so different is its culture and its people. Dublin is so international that you can meet people from different continents of the world everyday. People here are very friendly and make you feel so welcome. I love music and arts and there are tons of museums, theaters and concerts; I love food and there are tons of cafes, restaurants and pubs. Dublin is definitely one of the coolest places I have ever been to. Besides, I can take advantage of its location to travel to the stunning Irish countryside on the weekend. Dublin truly is a place where you can both work hard and play hard. Connect-123’s program coordinator has offered me so much help that I could easily get settled in Dublin and enjoy the city. My internship in Dublin has been one of the most unforgettable experiences in my life. Really looking forward to coming back in future.

These past two months in Ireland have been absolutely amazing! From the remarkable internship placement at one of Ireland’s pediatric hospitals, to the program coordinators' helpful demeanor, the Connect-123 program and staff have been wonderful and friendly.

I was a little hesitant coming to Dublin for the summer, and working at a hospital full time since I am still only a pre-med student. However, I got to work with my supervisor, who was brilliant and kind as he allowed me to gain exposure to the surgical and anesthetic fields. I saw many surgeries on a daily basis, and saw how all the health care providers worked together. Alongside an amazing internship, I enjoyed living in Dublin and experiencing everything the city has to offer.

UCD was a great place to live, as all the staff was hospitable and answered all of my questions/problems. I also loved being surrounded by the beautiful scenery and nature in Ireland. This trip honestly has been the most incredible experience I have had in my life so far. I grew so much as a person, a student, and appreciated being immersed in the Irish culture for eight weeks. I cannot wait to visit again soon!

My time in Dublin was simply unforgettable. Connect-123 staff provided opportunities to meet up with other Connect-123 interns, but it was also fun to get to know my housemates from all around the world and conquer Dublin’s exciting nightlife together. I formed friendships that I hope will last a lifetime! There was always something fun going on in the city, and spending time in the seemingly endless parks when the weather cooperated was always an option. My internship placement was also incredible.

My supervisor was very knowledgeable and always took the time to teach me anything I was curious about. It was interesting to see how another country’s environmental NGOs were handled and seen in the public eye, plus it was fun to interact with locals who were passionate about the same things I am! I learned so much in the two months I spent working, not only about my prospective career but also about another country’s culture. I’m more excited than ever to finally enter the workforce!

The country of Ireland itself is absolutely gorgeous and the people are helpful and friendly. I was never bored because of the endless trips to take, sights to see, and activities to do for any budget. I felt right at home and never felt like an outsider in a country in which I don’t belong. I’m already planning my return trip!

My internship experience with Connect-123 was amazing. Being able to work in a public hospital Dublin, Ireland allowed me to experience a new country as well as gain experience in my future career path. I was able to see and do things within the healthcare field that I would not been able to do back home.

This internship allowed for me to grow both as a person and a future healthcare professional. Having the weekends off allowed for me to travel in and out of Ireland, and I got to see many different cultures. Our program coodinator was very helpful and always available which made moving to a new country a smoother experience. In fact, the entire Connect-123 staff was engaging and friendly. They would have weekly events for all the interns, which helped us make friends with each other.

My favourite part of the experience was being able to build new relationships with my Irish co-workers and housemates, as well as strengthen relationships with my friends who interned in Dublin as well. We all became a family and I am glad I got to share all my experiences with them. I miss Dublin already and cannot wait to come back!

P.S. – you must try the Taytos potato chips, they are the best!

This past summer I had the privilege of interning at an at-risk youth program in Dublin. First off, I I could not actually believe what an incredible summer this one became. From the best roommates and the other long-lasting friendships formed from other participants in the program, to all the exciting socials from the beginning of my stay I knew I was meant to be here.

As a youth coordinator for an underprivileged children’s summer program in Dublin city, I worked with students around the ages of 12-15. I got to attend many of field trips exploring all their beautiful country had to offer as well as promote leadership through all different types of activities. These kids quickly stole my heart and we had the best times traveling, creating arts and crafts, or doing community service. Their Irish culture made a profound impact on me and I learn things that classrooms simply could not offer.

I had an unbelievable incredible time thanks to Connect-123 for coordinating my internship as well as the lovely housing at UCD. If I could return back to my internship in Dublin I would drop everything and go right now! If you ever have the opportunity to travel abroad go go go!

I could not have asked for a better experience in Dublin. Connect staff were more than helpful upon arrival. I was placed in a house with a couple other Connect-123 interns along with housemates from all over the world. We all got to learn about each other’s home countries. My housemates were my best friends throughout my stay! Connect-123's Dublin coordinator provided opportunities to meet up with other Connect-123 students during the time I was there. We always enjoyed that because we got to share each other’s work, travel, and social experiences in Ireland. My internship was incredible. I really enjoyed my coworkers and my boss. They were willing to help me learn more about PR and Marketing within their industry. I learned more than I could have imagined. It was an amazing experience to see the Irish culture within a business. I loved learning the differences between American and Irish business/marketing. Connect-123 was always very helpful when we wanted to take a day trip or any sort of trip within Ireland. Traveling all around Ireland was stunning. My housemates and I were very impressed by the sites. Each city we visited was very different, and it was interesting to see that within such a small country. Can’t wait to go back!

I’m finding it very difficult to describe my time in Dublin. How can you put four months of incredible experiences into words? I have made some very good friends and seen breathtaking places. This internship has truly allowed me to expand my horizons by placing me in all the new experiences.

From traveling to work, everyday was filled with opportunities to learn and grow. It’s a scary thing to travel to a new country, knowing no one, and starting a job, but thankfully I had Connect-123 there to guide me. My program coordinator eased my nerves about my new internship, and being away in general, by showing me around and giving me advice about Dublin and my new job. She even put together events with other Connect-123 interns that allowed me to meet some of my now very good friends. Most importantly she helped place me in an internship with a great photography company, where I have spent the last four months working with phenomenal people, and expanding my knowledge on the field of photography.

It’s not often that someone gets this amazing opportunity to go abroad, work, travel, and have as much fun as I have had, so thank you so much to Connect-123 for giving me this once in a life time adventure.

My time in Dublin was unforgettable. I was unsure of moving to a brand new place where I didn’t know anyone, but I couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. From the moment I stepped off the plane I felt comfortable and happy. Connect-123 set me up with a fantastic homestay where I made some of the best friends I’ve ever had.

My first day in Dublin, my program coordinator showed me around the city and helped me find a bus route to my internship. She was also great about taking all of the interns to fun places and giving advice on things to see and do. Connect-123 set me up with the best internship I could have asked for. I had been wanting to gain more experience in the film world, specifically as a production assistant. That is exactly what I did among other things. I worked on several short films and added projects to my resume that I’m truly proud of. I had the opportunity to see things and meet people that I never could have otherwise.

Connect-123 did an incredible job at setting me up with exactly what I was looking for and helping me make memories I will hold on to forever!

If you're looking for adventure, work experience, and building lasting connections with people literally around the world, then Connect-123 can make your international goals a reality. My volunteer-based internship consisted of people like myself from other countries looking to gain experience working with youth programs. I have had the honor and priviledge of working with some amazing people, residing from the following countries: Caymon Islands, Wales, Germany, France, Nigeria, other states within the US, and of course, Ireland. Reflecting on personal experiences, I have truly been able to maximize my awareness and understanding for cultural diveristy, inner-city youth programming, and I was also able to expeience living with a host family (which I highly recommend because living outside of the city and having breakfast and dinners taken care of is a plus, and the company is un-matchable!). I got the opportunity to work with an afterschool programme that engaged me in working with the young people of Dublin, help continue the efforts on their food security initiatives, and learn what true Irish hospitality looks like. With the land of Ireland being the size that it is, traveling to other cities throughout my stay was incredibly easy, and it's a great way to experience the Irish countryside, and meet new people.

My internship was one of the greatest experiences I have had in my life thus far. Not only was I able to observe so much at the hospital, I learned a lot about professionalism, being independent, and taking initiative. Coming to Ireland without knowing anyone was a challenge, but with Connect-123 I was able to meet several people that I could share the experience with. The internship itself was such a positive experience, and the staff was so incredibly inviting and nice. One of the best parts about Connect-123 is that they tailored the internship to what I wanted. It was so flexible that I was able to be in several different departments of the hospital instead of being assigned to just the one I applied for. This was made possible by my intern advisor at Connect-123. I was also able to visit a lot of Ireland and other countries as well! Overall the experience was very successful and I implore anyone who has the opportunity to have an internship abroad to take it!

My time in Dublin was unforgettable. Connect-123 placed me in a classroom where I gained valuable knowledge about teaching. The lead teacher at the school was so welcoming and allowed me to take on a full time teaching schedule with her help. It was amazing to be able to try out the career I want to one day have and I owe it all to Connect-123. During my time in Dublin, I was also able to enjoy the social scene. Connect-123 organized many after work mixers where I was able to immerse myself in the nightlife of Ireland. At these mixers I was able to meet with other interns from around the world and gained some great friends. Connect-123 did a great job of making sure I was happy with my internship and kept me involved in the culture of Ireland. I’m already planning my next trip back to Dublin!

By the time I knew of Connect-123, my last semester in my undergrad career was coming up quickly, and I wanted to study abroad one more time before I graduated. When I heard Connect-123 sent people abroad with internships, I knew it was the perfect choice for one final learning experience before I got out into the real world and got a job. Going to Dublin changed my entire college experience in just a short two months. Working in Ireland was not only helpful in honing my people-skills, but it gave me a better understanding of how international marketing works as a whole. Connect-123 set me up with the opportunity of a lifetime. There was always something going on (weekend trips, pub crawls, bus tours), and I had more fun than I can express. Through Connect-123, I got to live and work in a country that I've always wanted to visit, and I gained lifelong friends and valuable work experience in the process. Dublin is an amazing city, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an international work experience. I am now working full-time and using many of the learnings I gained during my internship in real life situations.

I first visited Dublin while traveling Europe during study abroad. After spending only a few days in the city, I knew I wanted to return for an extended stay. I was incredibly fortunate to find that Connect-123 would not only provide a means for my return to Dublin, but would also allow me to work at an internship pertinent to my field of study. I spent this past summer working in a cancer research institute at a highly respectable university. Even though I didn’t have much experience in lab work, the people I worked with were incredibly informative and happy to help. Since returning from Ireland, I have successfully applied to medical school, and at all of my interviews for admission I was asked about my research in Dublin. The time spent outside of my internship was also incredibly valuable. I met amazing people, both Irish and American, and have already returned to Dublin to visit friends. I will never forget the excursions around Ireland, offering some of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen. The Irish people are very friendly and it is easy to feel at home in this charming and lively city. I am very grateful to Connect-123 for providing the opportunity to live and intern in Dublin.

This summer I wanted to take the opportunity to do something for myself unrelated to school. I volunteered at a community resource centre helping with a summer project, which provides at-risk youth a safe and fun environment during their summer holiday. This opportunity taught me so much about myself and also about working with other people. One of the things I wrote in my application was that I wanted to emerge myself into a culture and have a chance to not only change my life, but also have a chance to impact others. This sentence puts into words my whole experience. I was constantly learning about the Irish culture working with those who know it best. I felt that I made a huge impact in the work that was done at the resource centre and my life has changed because of this experience. Connect-123 understood what I wanted and gave me an opportunity of a lifetime. At first I was nervous to be moving to a foreign country not knowing a single person, but I don’t regret that one bit. Not only was I roommates with other Connect-123 interns, but we all lived in the same building. I made so many new friends that I will cherish forever! Dublin is truly an incredible place. The city is beautiful, small enough to become acquainted to quickly, and the people are amazing. I am currently already planning my trip back!!

My 8 weeks in in Dublin was truly a memorable one. I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot during my internship as an executive intern. Dublin is just full of friendly and helpful people and it was easy to feel at home. I also made great friends via this programme. The process of applying for the internship, arriving in Ireland and settling down in my accommodation was very smooth and working with Connect-123 made my life much easier. I also got to live with and meet other interns, so I didn’t feel alone. I learnt a lot during my internship. The great thing about Connect-123 is that they monitor your progress at your internship and discuss with you about your goals before you begin and mid-way your internship, so that you have a clear picture on what you want to gain at the end of the experience. They are also very willing to help us during our stay there. I am glad that I came to Dublin for my internship. I am definitely going to plan a trip back!
